So, it’s about a fortnight since I horribly embarrassed myself when I revealed that I had gained 7lbs instead of actually loosing weight, so I guess you could say I was absolutely determined to loose weight this time.
I would like to say that this diet and fitness lark hasn’t been all plain sailing… Just this Friday I, along with my father, polished off 4 bottles of wine with large quantities of BBQ food. When the wine was gone I then proceeded to assist my lovely wife in drinking a few cases of Budweiser! Not only did these stupid events lead to the intake of a vast amount of calories but the preceding hangover ensured that I stayed away from the gym the next day! BAD, BAD BOY!
However rather than admit defeat and blow my Fat-to-Fit project out of the water I simply started again the next day.
I’m aiming to get to the local Lifestyles gym at least 4 times a week in addition to an hour of two of badminton every Sunday. At the gym I’m aiming to achieve a 2 hour workout based on 70% cardio work and 30% weights, which may admittedly slow the actual weight-loss, but the aim is fit too! I’ve been managing to burn off between 700 and 900 calories per visit which is excellent.
As far as eating goes I’m loosely following a Slimming World style diet and now snacking on fruit rather than chocolate and crisps. Sugar is almost pretty much gone from my diet too.
Just by swapping sugar for sweetener I manage to save over 300 calories a day as I easily used to drink 8-10 cups of coffee a day. Added to each of those were 2 heaped teaspoons of sugar @ 16 calories each! Dropping the chocolate is another 313 calories a bar (based on a Snickers bar) and two bags of crisps – another 368 calories! I could go on but you probably get the idea…
So enough chit-chat – it’s time to reveal this fortnights results….
I’m proud to say not only did I manage to drop the extra 7lbs that I had previously gained but I managed to double that amount and loose a total of 14lbs!!! Which brings my new weight to 17 stone (238lbs) which despite the little hiccough is absolutely brilliant for a fortnight. I know to achieve the same over the next fortnight will be harder but I’d just be happy with a loss.
