Fat to Fatter……

A little over a fortnight ago I wrote a post entitled Fat to Fit – The Start of the Jorney about how I was unhappy about my expanding waistline and I started making grand plans to bring the situation under control.  Two weeks later and you’re probably expecting a post on how I’ve lost several pounds, how I’ve been eating more healthily and how I’ve really hit the gym.

Unfortunately I’m going to disappoint!  I’ve been lazy!  In fact I’ve put on 5 lbs – bringing my current weight to 252lbs!

My initial reaction was to blame it on other things rather than face the truth – that I have been LAZY!

Firstly, I could have blamed the lovely teaching staff who presented me with oodles of chocolates, donughts, wine and much more at the end of term for all of my hard work this past year!  But I cannot – their presents were given with the best of intentions and I truly am greatful for them, they didn’t force me to eat a box of Thorntons Premier Chocolates in two days or stuff 5 custard donughts down my throat in an afternoon – NO I did that to myself.

Secondly, it would be easy to blame the lack of exercise on lack of money – ergo, lack of new gym membership!   Simple really, except when I’m honest with myself and admit that there is a fully equipped gymnasium (and pool) that I can use in work FOR FREE!  Not only that but I probably could afford the gym membership at the moment anyway!

And Finally the biggest lie of all – the simple lack of time!  Once again I’m calling B.S. on this one…  If I can find the time to spend hours on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit etc..  I can surely spare an hour to get off my fat ass!

hwchart18jun09smallSo now, it really is time to get serious!  The diet and exercise have now officially started!

If anyone catches me with a Snickers in hand, I fully expect to be reprimanded in person and online too (Not that that is going to happen!!!)  I spent an hour playing badminton yesterday and an hour in the gym today.  I also ate a rather healthy set of balanced meals today, including my now famous Roast Chicken and Mediterranean Veg (heavy on the veg!)

Now if you take a little peak at the chart on the left you will see, that at 5′ 10″, my ideal weight for my build is 12 stone which means that I have 84lbs to loose.  OUCH!  A long way to go, but as Confucius say – A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
