Well, Lyndon is a bit of a geek. He loves family, gadgets, coding, cooking, eating and watching films with his wife. He lives in the Vale of Glamorgan, with his awesome wife, kids and cat called Oreo.
After returning to university at the age of 38 to ‘find himself’, he rediscovered his love for formal education and more importantly, his passion for helping others learn. Coming from a long line of educators as well as being ‘Chairman’ of an entrepreneurial charity whose mission it is to help potential NEET’s re-engage within secondary education, he should have realised sooner that his destined career lay within education!
Lyndon graduated with a First Class Honours degree from the University of South Wales. He was also presented with the award for the best performance from a final year Combined Studies student. With supportive feedback from many of his (much) younger peers that he would make a great teacher, a seed was sowed.
After a bit of deliberation and reflection, Lyndon (the life-long learner) finally realised that perhaps education was his true vocation. He duly applied for, and was offered places on PGCE courses at several universities; but it was the ICT Secondary course at University of Wales, Trinity St David that appealed the most.
Lyndon has worked with many different types of organisations from across a wide range of sectors and has also created several companies. He is also currently working on a new bootstrapped startup whilst (slowly) learning to code using the Laravel PHP framework and Python, using the Django framework, which is also adding relevant key skills to his portfolio to help deliver coding to young people.
Is yet to be written, but (in August 2016) I’m looking forward to starting my PGCE year at UWTSD and hopefully, using my prior life experience to deliver excellence in the classroom.
